The popular food truck spot on W. Canal Drive is likely to have a large vacancy for a time after a fire damaged one of the offerings.

Tequila’s Taco Bus, the converted school bus offering Mexican fare, caught fire early Wednesday while en route on N. Tully Road to the parking lot on W. Canal Drive.

The fire was reported shortly before 9 a.m. when the driver noticed black smoke pouring from the engine compartment and flames starting to shoot from the sides.

A total of two fire engines, one truck and a battalion chief responded to the scene. The fire was contained to the bus and was quickly brought under control.

There were no injuries reported from the blaze.

The fire came just a week after the taco bus reopened with new owners at the helm.
