The corner of Geer and Fulkerth roads is a little more desolate as the remaining house in the area caught fire on Tuesday.

All Turlock Fire units were called out at approximately 9:25 a.m. Tuesday to respond to a structure fire in the 1600 block of Geer Rd.

First arriving crews found a fire on the first floor of the home that had extended into the second story. Crews brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.

Through the department’s resource sharing partners,  two additional engines, one truck, and multiple chief officers also responded. Crews worked for an extended period of time conducting overhaul of the fire.

There were no injuries reported. Turlock Fire Capt. Jason Bernard said that the home has been vacant and, although it was known as a place where homeless individuals would frequent, it was empty at the time of the fire.

The county Fire Investigation Unit was dispatched to handle the fire investigation. Those with any information regarding the fire can contact the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit at 209-525-5537.
