CPL. John Kenneth Collier of Otis, Oregon passed away on September 5, 2026 from lifelong complications from Agent Orange Exposure. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma March 22, 1946 to Emma-Louise and Morris Collier. John spent part of his childhood in Oklahoma before moving to California around the age of 7.

John was an award-winning wrestler for Livingston High School graduating in 1964. Shortly after graduating High School, John attended Modesto Junior College and was working towards a degree that would allow him to coach his beloved wrestling and teach physical education when he was drafted in 1968 to serve in Vietnam. He voluntarily signed up for two more tours after being drafted, serving in the 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles), Comanchero A/101 AHB, and 1st Calvary Division among other divisions in the Army. John was a well decorated soldier, flying over 1,000 combat missions as a helicopter crew chief and door gunner. He was a recipient of four Purple Hearts and multiple awards for acts of bravery and valor in combat including a Bronze Star. He was a well-respected hero and a brother to all veterans. He was instrumental in helping hundreds of veteran's secure benefits and awards as a national service officer.

John loved fishing in creeks and rivers since he was a young man in California, and continued to do so while living in Hawaii and eventually Oregon. John also loved photography, recording and taking photos and videos of family members, friends, and nature. He had a passion for vintage cars, especially Corvettes. He loved watching football and was an enthusiastic 49er fan.

John is survived by 8 children, Gayle Smith, Kelly Collier, Cassia Collier, Stephanie Hegarty (Mark), Juan Collier, Golda Collier (Geoff), Cora Collier, and Marcus Collier; 13 Grandchildren, Alexandra Cole, Caitlin Gonzalez (Alexander), Mark Hegarty the 2nd, Gabriela DeMarco, Christian Hegarty, Jaden Collier, Sage Collier, Christiana DeMarco, Lily Collier, Orion McAlwee, Camellia Forbes, Aurora McAlwee, and Carly Forbes; and 3 Great-Grandchildren, Alexander and Adonis Gonzalez, and Celine DeMarco.

Grave side services will be at noon, September 28th at the Willamette National Military Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
