Halloween events slated for Turlock area
Trick or Treat

It’s October, which means that stores are stocked with candy and kids are carefully curating their costumes. It’s all in anticipation of Halloween. Though the celebration is only observed on Oct. 31, Halloween and autumn-themed events are taking place throughout the month in the Turlock area.

The Greenery’s Haunted Scavenger Hunt 

The folks at The Greenery Nursery at 742 E. Olive Ave. are getting the spooky season started early with a free event on Saturday. Tabbed as the “Haunted Scavenger Hunt, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., those of all ages can search for items that can help them win a fun prize and 10% off a purchase at the gift shop.

Paint with Annette at Pageo Lavender Farm 

Adults on the artsy side can paint away from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 9 at Pageo Lavender Farm at 11573 Golf Rd. when they host their latest “Paint with Annette” session. Paintings will be autumn themed. Spots can be reserved now for $48 at https://pageo.typeform.com/october9th.  

Stan State Athletics Halloween Fun Run

Looking to get into the Halloween spirit while staying active? Stanislaus State is launching their inaugural Halloween Fun Run starting at 7 a.m. Oct. 26, sponsored by Dust Bowl Brewing, Kiwanis of Greater Turlock and the Turlock Rotary.  The 5k and pond run across the Turlock campus will consist of folks dressed in costumes to benefit the Stan State Athletics Scholarship Fund. Those of all ages can participate — adults for $30 and children for $20. The winner of the costume contest will be announced at the completion of the run. A post-run party will take place at Dust Bowl’s Turlock taproom. Those interested in participating can register at https://csustan.hometownticketing.com/embed/event/319

Downtown Turlock Trick-or-Treat

Downtown Turlock’s annual Trick-or-Treat event will return for another year from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 26. Community members are encouraged to bring the kids out to visit downtown shops for candy, face painting, a bounce house and a soft play area for the littles, pictures with Skeleton Mickey, a photo booth and more.

First United Methodist Church Trunk-or-Treat

The First United Methodist Church at 1660 Arbor Way is looking to give more than just candy to the kids this fall. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27, the church will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat as part of its “Do Unto Others” campaign. Though there is no admission price for the event that features free food, games, face painting, balloon artist and, of course, candy, attendees can bring canned food items to benefit the holiday efforts of Turlock Together. Items requested from the holiday charity included canned green beans, canned corn, canned peas, canned tuna, canned soup, peanut butter and uncooked spaghetti. In addition to the games and giving, the Turlock Fire Department will be on site with a fire truck as well as a Turlock Police K-9.

K-9s on the Move Trunk-or-Treat

There will be no shortage of furry friends on Halloween night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. when pet daycare K-9s on the Move at 1001 S Berkeley Ave. in Turlock host their third annual trunk-or-treat. Families are invited to hang with animals and to bring their own as folks kick back for family-friendly Halloween movies and snacks, including candy. Salvation Army Trunk-or-Treat

Also on Halloween night is the fifth annual trunk-or-treat at the Salvation Army Turlock Corp. at 893 Lander Ave. From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., community members of all ages can attend for free. According to the organization, the event’s purpose is to “provide a safe environment on Halloween and keep the kids off the streets.”
