The Kiwanis Club of Turlock’s inaugural summer series of food fairs will come to an early end, with the last event of the season set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.
The Kiwanis Club of Turlock has hosted the Main StrEAT Food Rally event the first Friday of the month starting in May, with the aim of creating a larger community presence for the service club while also giving back to local charities.
"It's a new way to engage with community groups and our high school Key Clubs," said Kiwanis Club President Trina Walley. "One of the goals is to let people know what Kiwanis Club does in the community. Kiwanis Club International is 100 years old this year and the Kiwanis Club of Turlock has been active for over 50 years."
Although the event is ending one month earlier, Walley is excited about planning for next year's food fair series.
"Next year we're looking at coming back on a different night to get more nonprofits, food trucks and, hopefully, some downtown restaurants participating," said Walley.
The Kiwanis Club booth will be gathering feedback at Friday's event on how next year's food rallies could be better.
The Main StrEAT Food Rally will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday between Thor and Palm streets. Bob Crawford from Age Before Beauty and 2 Tone from Off The Wall Entertainment will be performing.
