Stanislaus Animal Services Agency received a game-changing investment from Petco Love, a national nonprofit that empowers animal welfare programs. This $60,000 lifesaving investment will support SASA's growing transport program, aimed at saving more pet lives by improving the efficiency and comfort of canine transportation.

SASA's transport program has been instrumental in reducing the overcrowded dog population at the shelter. By partnering with shelters and rescues throughout the western United States and even Canada, SASA has expanded its reach, contributing to the overall success of its live release rate.

The investment from Petco Love is being used for the acquisition of a state-of-the-art transportation trailer, capable of safely accommodating up to 16 large dogs during each journey. Recognizing the need for a more efficient and comfortable means of transportation, SASA upgraded its program to enhance the overall well-being of the animals.

The newly funded transport trailer will significantly increase the number of dogs transported in a single trip, providing them with first-class accommodations. Moreover, the investment from Petco Love has also facilitated the retrofitting of a large van, equipped with built-in cages and capable of pulling the trailer, allowing SASA to transport as many as 24 dogs on a single trip.

“SASA is very grateful for Petco Love's lifesaving investment in the transport program,” said Vaughn Maurice with Stanislaus Animal Services Agency. “This generous grant from Petco Love will not only transform the way we transport dogs but will also play a crucial role in saving more pet lives. It aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing the best possible care for the animals in our care.”

Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested $375 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts.
