Young children learning how to enjoy playing again at Jessica’s House following the death of a loved one now have a shady playground, thanks to the Sunrise Rotary and Rotary Club of Turlock. The combined Turlock Rotary clubs donated a shade structure for the playground at Jessica’s House, a grief counseling facility in Turlock. During a combined club meeting held Tuesday at Jessica’s House, the Rotarians learned that “every little thing” at the grief center — including a shady place to play — makes a huge difference for the hundreds of families that come through the organization’s doors every year seeking support through their grief.

A recurring theme at the opening night of the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock — the 107th edition of the annual event — was the heat. Sure, it's not 108 degrees like last year, but 102 on Friday afternoon wasn't too far off.
