The Turlock Youth Performing Arts will be holding auditions for their spring show “Annie Jr.” and are hosting a workshop for those children wanting to audition.

The workshop will be on Monday, with auditions set for Tuesday and Dec. 11.

The workshop is not a mandatory event for those hoping to join the show. It is a free event that will give the children an opportunity to meet the directors, practice their audition piece and get some pointers on the acting portion of the audition. Attendees do not need to sign-up for the workshop in advance.

“It’s just a chance for them to get more comfortable with the process before the auditions,” said TYPA Board Member Jane Cluff.

The workshop will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Turlock Community Theatre. Auditions are set for 6 p.m. Tuesday and Dec. 11, with callbacks at 6 p.m. Dec. 12. The show will be rehearsing from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be on the stage April 20 to 22.

Attendees do not need to attend both auditions — just one night or the other.

TYPA will be casting several roles for girls and boys, all between the ages of 8 years and 14 years. There are links on TYPA’s Facebook page with lyrics and music for boys and for girls that attendees should learn for the audition.

Anyone with questions can post them to TYPA’s Facebook page.
