Audrey Anderson, 80, of Turlock, passed away at St. Francis Assisted Care Center after an extended illness. Audrey was born in Amarillo Texas to John and Audrey (Sisk) Hodges. She started he schooling in Texas and the family moved to New Mexico when Audrey was 10 and then to Yuma Arizona when she was 16 and graduated from High School in Yuma. Audrey met Robert Anderson when he returned from Germany where he served in World War II. Audrey taught two and three year olds in Sunday School and she sang in the choir at Bethel Temple. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing the piano. Her husband Robert was a Captain with the Turlock Fire Department. Audrey was active with the Sparkettes (wives of firefighters.) She also enjoyed gardening and caring for animals. Audrey and Robert travelled to relax. Some favorite getaways spots were at Pacific Grove and a friends' cabin at Twain Harte.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1999, and by two sons: Russell Anderson and by Robert Anderson, Jr. in the fall of 2011. She is survived by her daughter Debra (Dean) Laffin of Turlock, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service for Audrey is planned in the near future. Memorial Contributions are suggested for Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.allenmortuary.com. Burial will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery with her husband Robert.
