Charles Cline, 83 of Denair, passed away on February 27, 2021.  He was born in San Diego where he attended Grossmont High School then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17.  After his honorable discharge in 1958 he served 20 years in the Army National Guard #184th.  He lived in Garden Grove and married Cheryl Montgomery in 1961. They settled in Modesto and he worked for Helm Chevrolet as a mechanic.  He then became a HVAC technician for MID, Sylvan School District, and finally retiring from City of Modesto in 2003.   He was a member of American Legion Post 74, S.I.R.S., D.A.V.; and Turlock First United Methodist Church.  Charles also enjoyed RVing for 45 years, gardening and having coffee with his morning Huckleberry’s Restaurant gang.

Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years Cheryl Cline; son Jeffrey (Gwen) Cline of Portland, OR; daughter Janisse (Stefano) Foresti of Denair, CA; grand-daughters Xenia Foresti of Denair and Neve Foresti of San Diego; nieces Robbie of Lakeside, CA; Raleigh and Randi of El Cajon, CA; sister-in-law Diane (Orval) Welch of Denair; and his pet kitty Almondine.  Preceded in death by his parents-in-law Willard and Eileen Montgomery; sister Kitty Hallieb; and brothers Bob Hill, Junie Hill, and Fred Cline.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4pm – 6pm at Allen Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 1pm also at Allen Mortuary with a graveside to follow at Denair Cemetery.
