Cindy Morgan passed away on August 5, 2015 at Stanford Hospital surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Cindy was born to Jim and Sandra Hanson on April 15, 1959 in Lodi, California.

Cindy was preceded in death by her mother Sandra Rae Hanson of Turlock, CA, and is survived by her father, James C. Hanson, Sr. of Turlock, CA, husband Scot Morgan of Turlock, CA, children Andy Morgan (Alicia) of Turlock, CA, and Adam Morgan (Michelle Miller) of San Francisco, CA, brother James C. Hanson, Jr. “Beaver” (Katherine) of Turlock, CA, grandmother Lory Moore of Lodi, CA. She will be missed by many other relatives, friends, and coworkers whom she loved.

Cindy was raised in Turlock, California attending Sacred Heart Catholic School where she played basketball for her mother, Sandra. In her youth, Cindy and her brother, James “Beaver” Hanson, danced as a team for years at June McVey’s Dance School. Cindy also swam for the Turlock Aquatic Club.

At Turlock High School, Cindy played clarinet in band, worked on the Clarion newspaper and yearbook, played basketball, and met the love of her life, Scot Morgan. Scot and Cindy fell in love during high school and a few years later were married on January 12, 1980. Scot and Cindy were married for 35 years.

Cindy’s work was very important to her. Her first job out of high school was at A&W at the Vintage Fair Mall followed by working at Richard and Chambers stationary store. Cindy was a legal secretary for 17 years before finding a home away from home with Turlock Unified School District. Cindy worked as an Administrative Assistant with TUSD for 18 years lighting up hallways with her personality where she built many lasting friendships.

There was never any doubt Cindy was born to be a mother. She loved her two boys, Andy and Adam, more than anything. Andy was her little pumpkin and Adam was her “boo boo” bear. While the kids were growing up, Cindy made sure to be at every soccer, baseball, and basketball game cheering on her boys as loudly as she could. Cindy was a mother to all the neighborhood kids, making sure they were well fed with pizza and snacks. Cindy loved taking family trips to Disneyland, hosting Christmas at her house, and making “Cindy’s famous” toffee for her family and friends. Throughout her life Cindy enjoyed playing bunko and cards with friends, going gambling at the Peppermill in Reno, and eating breakfast at AJ’s Café.

Cindy cared for her mother, who also passed away from pancreatic cancer. In lieu of flowers the family prefers remembrances be made in her name to Division of Oncology, c/o Phyllis Bussey, 269 Campus Drive, CCSR 1115, Stanford, CA 94305-5151. Donations can be made to Stanford University “GI Cancer Research Fund of Dr. Pamela Kunz.”
