Dorothy Belle Peterson went to be with the Lord for Easter. Jesus called her home before sunrise on Good Friday, April 6, 2012 in Turlock, CA.
Dorothy was born June 19, 1924 in Arlington, Washington to Ira and Maude Hunter. She graduated from North Park University in Chicago and earned her teaching credential from Seattle Pacific University.
She moved to the Central Valley in 1960 and taught first through fourth grades for Ceres Unified, Mountain View & Chatom schools until she retired in 1984. Dorothy married Earl Peterson in 1963. She attended New Life Christian Center where she was active in the greeting ministry. 
She enjoyed many hobbies including antiquing, traveling, and gardening.  She was a member of  Turlock Historical Society and volunteered for the Turlock Historical Museum.  Dorothy deeply cherished her family.
She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and God.  She is survived by her loving husband Earl Peterson, daughter Linda (Ron) Wierschem of Modesto, grandsons Erik (Christina) of Honolulu, Scott (Lindsey) of Arroyo Grande, Lance Wierschem of San Luis Obispo, sister Maude Green of Roseville, brother-in-law Don Chambers of Everett, WA, along with many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her mother and father, Ira and Maude Hunter, brother Frank, sister Mildred Krutz, and sister Ruth Chambers.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the Funeral Service beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. Private interment  to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
