Emily Elizabeth Genzoli
Sept. 27, 1977 March 23, 2011
Genzoli
Emily Elizabeth Genzoli died March 23rd at her home in Hughson. She was born Sept. 27, 1977 in Turlock to Charles and Pam Genzoli. She grew up on her family’s almond ranch in Hughson. After graduating from Hughson High School in 1995, she went on to graduate from Fresno State University with a degree in graphic design. After college, she remained in Fresno where she worked as an art director at an advertising agency. It was during this time that she was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 25. Her amazing positive spirit inspired all who knew her as she accepted and dealt with her diagnosis.
After being diagnosed, she returned home to Hughson to be near family and friends. She drove herself each week to Fresno to receive treatment under the care of her beloved oncologist, Dr. Marshall Flam, whom she credits with giving her the opportunity to live a full and active life throughout most of her illness. She took pleasure in renovating her home and turning her yard into a beautiful garden. During this time, she met her future husband, whom she married in September 2004. Emily spent her time enjoying an active life with her husband, family and friends. She especially enjoyed traveling, gardening and baking. Her creative and artistic talents were endless and she continued to do freelance graphic design work for many years.
Emily was preceded in death by her father, Charles, in 2007. She leaves behind her husband of six and a half years, Joshua Cullum; their beloved dog, Pete; her mother, Pam Genzoli; her sister, Melissa (David) Ramont; her grandparents, Everett and Mary Anne Aldrich; loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and her father and mother-in-law, Kevin and Mary Jane Cullum.
An art scholarship is being established in her honor. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Charlie Genzoli Memorial Account at the Hughson branch of the Bank of the West or may be sent to 5219 Tully Rd., Hughson, CA 95326.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
