Grace Sequeira Niehaus
Nov. 30, 1923 - June 14, 2012
Niehaus

Grace Niehaus, 88, passed away in Modesto, CA, on June 14, 2012, after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 30, 1923, in Hughson, CA, to John and Mary Sequeira. Grace attended and graduated from Livingston High School in 1941. She was employed by Bank of America as the first teller at the Livingston branch and later became an Escrow Officer at various title agencies in Merced and Fresno.
Grace married Louie Gularte in 1947, however the marriage did not last and they divorced in 1961. She then met and married Carl Niehaus in 1967 and relocated to Fresno, CA. Grace continued her escrow career until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her husband Carl, a driver for Greyhound Lines by accompanying him on charter trips or just a weekend ride on his regular route. In retirement, Carl and Grace moved to Turlock, CA, where they enjoyed socializing and traveling with family and friends. They were married for 27 years when Carl passed away in 1994.
Outgoing, gracious, and talkative was Grace, always willing to help family and friends who needed care or assistance. Yet, if anyone rattled the car keys, she was ready for a shopping excursion, attending sporting events, visiting the one arm bandits in Reno, or going for a leisurely ride to the mountains or coast.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband Carl Niehaus, parents John & Mary Sequeia and brother Fernando Sequeira. She is survived by her sisters Lucille Fiori of Turlock and Natalie Cabral of Livingston; niece Chris Elms (Kerry) of Modesto; nephews Gary Cabral (Debie) of Livingston and Wayne Fiori (Mai) of Sunnyvale; stepson Ed Niehaus (Betty) of Reno, NV; great-nephews Matt Cabral and Eric Cabral of Turlock; and great-niece Kara Costa (Joe) of Livingston.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Turlock Funeral Home, 425 North Soderquist Road, Turlock, CA, on Friday, June 22, 202 at 10:00 a.m. Interment immediately following services at Turlock Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice, Inc., 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356 or your favorite charity.
