Gregory Erwin Bodine, 69, of Turlock, California, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2016. Greg was born to Robert and Shirley Bodine in 1946 in Carmel, California. Greg was a long-time resident of Turlock, California, but enjoyed most of his retired life living in La Grange, California overlooking Lake Don Pedro.

Greg served three years in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of the Vietnam War; receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Naval Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Greg was proud to have served his country and was a lifetime member of The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Vietnam Veterans of America. Greg was also a member of E Clampus Vitus, Chapter 58.

Greg was retired after spending more than 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service. Greg was an incredible man who could always bring a smile to those around him. He had a great love of music and loved to ride his Harley. 

Besides his wife Marji Bodine of Turlock, Greg is survived by his brother Bruce Bodine and his wife Toni Bodine of Turlock; his Son Brett Bodine and his wife Shannon Bodine of Turlock; his Daughter Andrea Edwards and her husband Kevin Edwards of Turlock; and his grandchildren: Wesley Bodine, Wyatt Bodine, Sarah Bodine, Hannah Bodine, Paris Edwards, Jordan Edwards, Nicolette Coelho, and Mikaela Edwards of Turlock. Greg is preceded in death by his parents Bob Bodine and Shirley Bodine of Turlock.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson, California. Their dedication and effort to provide comfortable quality care for Greg was a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.

A military graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery located at 32053 West McCabe Road, Santa Nella, California. Following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of Greg’s life at the VFW Post 5059 located at 1405 E. Linwood Avenue, Turlock, CA. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and share their stories of life and love for Greg. There will be food and beverages along with a loving slideshow of Greg and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Greg’s name to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, 2201 Euclid Avenue, Hughson, CA. 95326, or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
