Gus Thomas Mouzes

Gus was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska, the youngest of 3 sons in a family of 11. His parents Tom and Emphilia Mouzes moved the family to Turlock, CA in the 1940’s. Gus graduated Turlock High. Gus played football on the undefeated State Championship squad of 1949. In the Navy he served on the USS Rainier (Korea). In December, 1952 Gus met his future wife Lauretta they married in 1954. Gus was a talented chef, he donated his skills to schools, his church, and many community organizations. Gus farmed for over 60 yrs. Gus passed away of natural causes with his family by his side to mark his first day in Heaven. Gus is survived by his wife Lauretta of 63 years.  

 Children and their spouses: Tom and Susan Mouzes, Sabrina Mouzes, Philip and Margaret Mouzes, Maria, Mouzes Mark and Debra Mouzes.

Sisters: Esther Mc Creedy, Tulla Monolakis, and Mary Ann Darras.  

Grandchildren and their spouses: Michael Brown, Vanessa and Manuel Silva, Austen Mouzes, Carly and Bill Mouzes, Hattie Mouzes, Andie Mouzes, Kimberly and Rick Kuprienko, Brian and Amy Palmer,

Great Grandchildren: Madelynn and Spencer Kuprienko, Preston, Samantha, and Marcus Palmer and Christian Brown.  He was the favorite uncle to a multitude of much loved nieces and nephews. 

Viewing begins at 7pm, Sunday December 4th at Salas Bros. Funeral Chapel:  419 Scenic Dr, Modesto (209) 523-5646.  

Funeral Services will be   Monday, December 5th at 10:30 am, at the Greek Orthodox Church, 313 Tokay Ave. Modesto (209) 522-7694.  Interment will take place Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, (209) 883-0411.
