Hildegarde Wente Corgiat passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 16, 2016.
A resident of Turlock and Stanislaus County her entire life, Hilde attended grade school and high school in Hilmar, CA. She graduated from Hilmar High School in 1944.
Hilde worked for Pacific Telephone as a service representative and cashier in the Turlock offices. She retired after 35 years of service.
Hilde was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles F. Corgiat whom she married in 1948. Her parents, Herman and Meta Wente and her brother, August Wente.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Staley of Colfax, CA and her son, Charles Corgiat, Jr. of Turlock, CA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Corgiat of McKinleyville, CA, Julie Freeby of Turlock, Toby Staley of Sacramento and Shelly Scantling of Fort Collins, Colorado. She was a happy great-grandmother of nine great-grandchildren and delighted in playing card and board games with them when they visited. She always remembered them with cards on birthdays and Christmas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital or Turlock Historical Society.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 22, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 23, at the same location. Interment will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
