James Mitchell, 72, of Ceres, passed away at his home on Tuesday. Born in Kentucky, James grew up and graduated from high school in Indianapolis, Ind. He married Carol in 1978 in Bakersfield and they returned to live in California in 1990. James was a welder and maintenance worker. He worked for a feed mill and for Con-Agra for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time at home with his family.
James is survived by his wife of 31 years, Carol; daughter, Melissa Mitchell of Ceres; step-daughter, Tina Hilton of Titusville, Fla.; step-son, Richard Fontaine of Hartford, Conn.; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant great grandchild.
