Turlock

 A beloved wife, loving mother, dear sister, and wonderful friend unexpectedly left us July 7th. Jan was overcoming breast cancer when an infection took hold and she went into respiratory failure. She peacefully passed on with her family at her side.

            Jan was a kind hearted, generous and loving person. She had been a nurse for 40 years at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Her favorite pastimes were playing tennis and talking long walks in the sun. She loved to serve people and show hospitality. She committed her life to God at age 14 in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite and continued her walk with the Lord at Monte Vista Chapel in Turlock. She touched the lives of everyone who met her.

She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories her husband Oliver, daughters and Katie and husband Thomas Mackey and Chelsie and Bryan Whetstone, and 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She is preceded in death by her parents Waymon and Wilma Smith and brother Gary.

           Memorial Service will be held today, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:30am at Turlock Funeral Home with interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park. Memorial gifts may be donated in Janice’s name to Grace Nursing Home, 13435 W. Peach Ave., Livingston CA 95334.
