Janice Jorene Sweet was born to Joseph Ezell and Velta Marie (Grissom) Manley in Quentin, OK on October 24, 1938. Janice had one brother, Billy Joe; and one sister, Lavenia Marie. Her family traveled to CA in ’48 and settled in Hughson. She attended Hughson schools from 5th grade to her high school graduation in ’56. After high school, Janice attended MJC and received her junior accounting certificate.

Janice married her husband, Loren (Rocky) Sweet, in ’57. Together they had 3 sons, Loren Paul Jr., Lance Kelly, and Leland Deane. They have 3 granddaughters, Bobbie Lee Sweet (Nathan) Avena, Nichole Rene Sweet (Bob) Dos Santos, and Kaylah Dawn Sweet. Janice was a proud great-grandma to Christopher Nathan Sweet-Avena, Peyton Elizabeth Avena, Kilee Paige Avena, Nicholas Salos Dos Santos, Noan Salos Dos Santos, Teo Sweet, and Taliah Sweet.

Janice enjoyed working at Harder’s Print Shop, Turlock Memorial Park, Turlock Community Hospice, and retired after 21 great years at Turlock High School. She enjoyed traveling the States with her husband, family camping trips, time spent at the cabin with friends and family. Janice loved spending quality time and traveling with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation is being held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Turlock Funeral Home, 245 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, in the Main Chapel. A funeral service is being held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Turlock Funeral Home, in the Main Chapel.
