Jay R. Ramer, Jr.
April 1967 - March 2011
Jay Ramer Jr., 43, of Hilmar passed away Monday at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. Jay was born and grew up in Merced.  He graduated from Merced High School in 1985 and attended Merced Junior College.  He met Mary Komos in 2002, and they were married in 2003. They have been
blessed with two boys,  Joseph, 5 ½, and Elias, 16 months. He enjoyed family day trips and spending time with his sons playing Hot Wheels and building train tracks.
Jay worked as a copier service technician for about twenty years, most of that time with Davis Office Systems in Merced.  Jay was a former captain of the Merced County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team and continued to be involved as much as he could even after his health started to decline.
Jay was a very optimistic, upbeat person who almost never complained. His favorite sayings when he encountered problems were “It is what it is” and “Can you do anything about it?”
Jay’s friends were almost as important as his family.  He enjoyed barbecuing for “the group” and sharing his vast knowledge of historical trivia, survival skills, recipes, and current political events.
Jay is survived by his wife, Mary Ramer; two sons, Joseph and Elias Ramer; his mother, Helen “Sue” Ramer Sherrill, and many close relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Jay Ramer Sr. and a brother John “Randy” Ramer.

His warm, friendly spirit and out-going personality will be greatly missed. A visitation was held.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Allen Mortuary. Burial will follow at
North Hilmar Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be considered for the Jay R. Ramer Jr. Children’s Memorial Fund that has been established up at West America Bank. Please leave memories and condolences at
