Marie died of natural causes at her home in the loving embraces of her family. Marie was born in The Cherokee Nation in The Indian Territory in Chouteau, Okla. She was very proud of her Cherokee heritage.

She relocated to Turlock in 1935 with her husband and son. Marie retired in 1976 after 20 years of service as an USDA inspector. Marie was well known as a hard worker and provider. There was no job that Marie hesitated to tackle. She taught her family the joys of gardening and the practicality of problem solving. She entertained her grandchildren with her wide and varied collection of animals.

Marie was a passionate traveler throughout her lifetime. She traveled through Europe, Canada and to every state within the U.S. Her last trip was in the fall of 2010 to Denver, Colo. to meet her newest great great grandson. Marie gathered many friends. She was involved in her local church serving throughout her lifetime on the ladies ministries board, teaching Sunday school, and leading the worship song service. She was an avid quilter and did beautiful needlework. Many benefited from her loving talents.  
Marie is survived by her son, Charles Moore (Maxine) of Turlock; grandchildren, Rickey Moore (Sharon) of Escalon, Colleen Bergman (Gary) of Bellingham, Wash. and Sandra Goodson of Modesto; five great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; and siblings, Claud VanBrunt of Tulsa, Okla., LD Dunn of Chouteau, Okla., Ralph VanBrunt of Venice, Fla., Dorthy Evans of Tulsa, Okla. and Clinton VanBrunt of Locust Grove, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Claude Moore; and siblings, Bonnie Tell, Charles Tell, Ruby Tubbs and Esta Gibson.  
The family will be hosting a viewing from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at Allen Mortuary,  247 N. Broadway, Turlock. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19 at Turlock Memorial Park, with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Valley Christian Center in Ceres.
