Mary Lois Bare, 91, of Hilmar, passed away at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mary Lois was born in Arkansas to Julius and Thelma Wegel. She attended schools in Arkansas. After High School graduation she married Charles Bare, a Seaman with the Merchant Marine. They settled in California, first in the Bay Area and then in the Central Valley in 1968. They were married nearly 62 years when he passed away in 2005. 

Mary Lois was a homemaker for 75 years, baking, sewing, gardening, and everything else related to being a wife, Mom and Grandma. Mary Lois was known as Grandma Bare and known for her chocolate chip cookies.   

Mary Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and three siblings: Georgia Neeley, Hoyt Wegel and Earl Wegel. She is survived by her children: Charles Max (Teresa) Bare of Hilmar, Barbara (Bruce) Garcia of Hilmar, a brother Roger Wegel of Arkansas, 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
