Born in Staunton, Va., Ray moved to Chagrin Falls, Ohio as a young boy. From 1942 to 1945, he served in the Army, primarily in Europe and the Mediterranean. In 1945, after being discharged, Ray married Mildred Kivisto. In 1949, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in Korea until 1952. After 38 years of service to the White Motor Company in Cleveland, he and Mildred retired to Hilmar. Ray had a passion for flying and was an accomplished pilot. He also built and flew his own airplane. Throughout his life, Ray enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making and electronics.

Ray is survived by Mildred, his wife of 65 years; daughters, Barbara Carroll (John) and Beverly Duspiva; son, David Koogler (Tunde); five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24 at Turlock Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
