Richard Albert Johnson, 91 of Turlock passed away Wednesday, January 6th at Windsor Hampton Care Center in Stockton.
Mr. Johnson was born in Redwood City and was a resident of the Turlock area for 90 years. He was a backhoe operator for 40 years and worked for Garton Tractor for 10 years. He learned to fly and got his pilot’s license before he got his driver’s license. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his tour of duty in Korea, he was stationed at O’Hare Air Force Base near Chicago, where he met his wife of 66 years, Leone (Punky) Johnson. He and his wife enjoyed many adventures traveling in the United States and abroad. He was dedicated in serving his community by being a member of the Turlock 20/30 Club, the Denair Volunteer Fire Department, and the Denair Lions Club.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Leone Johnson of Turlock; sons, Robert (Merilark) Johnson of Lower Lake, James Johnson of Windsor and Michael Johnson of La Grange; daughter, Jacqueline Johnson of Windsor; one grandchild, Michael (Allison) Johnson of Cibolo, Texas and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Johnson; his parents, Albert and Alice Johnson; his brother, George Johnson; and his sister, Shirley Flinn.
Due to the Pandemic, a private service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that any donations be made to the Denair Lions Club.
