Downtown pots no longer tended by garden club

On Oct. 8, 2012, The Turlock Garden Club wrote a letter to the Turlock Downtown Property Owners Association informing them the Turlock Garden Club could no longer continue to plant and care for the Turlock downtown flower pots.

The Turlock Garden Club wishes to inform the citizens of Turlock and the business community that there have been some unresolved watering issues that made it impossible to plant in pots because of some pots having 4 inches of standing water and other pots do not get enough water for plants to survive.

During the past approximately 10 years the Turlock Garden Club has enjoyed the spring and fall planting, dead heading and fertilizing the plants.  It has been a very hard decision to stop the care of the pots.  There are 24 volunteers who have been taking care of the pots and we are all very sad about the situation, however we will be looking forward to another community project.

We want to thank all the local businesses and citizens for their support and kind words every month as we worked on the downtown pots.
