Broncos best Stanislaus women

The Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team was defeated, 80-57, by the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos Friday night in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest.

The Warriors fell to 7-6 overall and 5-4 in the CCAA while the Broncos improved to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play.

Katie Busi led the Warriors with 12 points, shooting 5-for-11 from the floor and 3-of-3 from the foul line.

In the first half both teams battled for possession of the game, with a tie score five times.  The Broncos finally took a comfortable lead over the Warriors at 5:26 when Pomona had a 10-0 run and ended the first half with a seven-point lead.

To start off the second half Busi scored on a layup and was sent to the free-throw line to give the Warriors three points.  Soon after Cal Poly Pomona took complete control over the game and after the 15:00 mark the Warriors were unable to come within 10 points of the Broncos. 

Although the Warriors had a stronger offense in the first half, Pomona out-shot the Warriors 57 to 34 percent in the second.

Contributing to the Warriors' offense was Christin Gowan with 11 points, Theresa Henderson had 10 points and Lauren Godde chipped in nine.  Jameiz Terrell led Cal State Stanislaus with four assists.

Busi led the Warriors defensively with eight rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. Godde also helped defensively with five rebounds.

Leading for the Broncos on offense was center, Megan Ford with 20 points.  Sarah Semenero recorded 14 points.  Reyana Colson and La'Kenya Simon West each tallied 10 points.  Ford also led the Broncos with eight rebounds.

The Warriors will play at Cal State San Bernardino tonight at 5:30 p.m.
