For the fifth time in his career, former Pitman High and current Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick was named the Western Athletic Conference offensive player of the week.
On Oct. 9, the 6-foot-6 Turlock native accounted for all five of the Wolf Pack’s touchdowns and 255 yards total offense in a 37-14 win over Louisiana Tech in the league opener, which was broadcast on ESPN. He passed 15-for-21 for 166 yards and three TDs, while rushing 12 times for 89 yards and two TDs.
One of his highlights was a 67-yard score in the third quarter that sealed the game for the Wolf Pack. Nevada (2-3, 1-0 WAC) plays at Utah State (1-4, 0-1) at noon today.
