It’s that time of the year for Colin Kaepernick, the Pitman High graduate who’s the star quarterback of the University of Nevada football team. His Wolf Pack are getting ready for prime time, now that they have two easy wins under their belts and are gearing up to face No. 24 California in an ESPN2-televised game at 7 p.m. on Friday in Reno, Nev.

For Kaepernick and his team, this is a chance to prove they’re Bowl Championship Series worthy.

“We are going into the game to win, not just be competitive,” he said.

In two games this season, Kaepernick has been racking up stunning stats as if he was playing a video game. He had back-to-back four-touchdown performances against Eastern Washington and Colorado State, while compiling 768 total yards of offense.

The Cal Bears are a fully loaded team that is coming off two blowout wins. A win over the Bears could do wonders for the Wolf Pack and their dreams of busting into a lucrative BCS bowl game.
