Cal State Stanislaus forward Karenee Demery has been named the Wilson/California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Demery, a freshman from Merced’s Harvest Christian High, has made an impressive collegiate debut for the Warriors, establishing herself as one of the CCAA's top offensive threats. In two contests against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona, Demery totaled seven points (three goals, one assist) as Cal State Stanislaus split a pair of contests with its two Southern California rivals.
In a 3-2 double-overtime loss to No. 13 Cal State San Bernardno on Friday, Demery scored a goal and had an assist. She came back on Sunday to score both goals in a 2-1 victory over Cal Poly Pomona.
Demery, the CCAA scoring leader with nine goals and 20 points, has already established a program freshman record for goals scored.
Cal State Stanislaus returns to action on Friday when it hosts Sonoma State in Turlock.
