The Warriors got a chance to show-off some offense in the second half against the worse defensive team in the CCAA as Cal State Stanislaus bowled by Cal State East Bay, 77-49, Friday night.
Reggie Jones led all scorers with 20 points in just 23 minutes of play as the Warriors snapped a two-game skid to win their third straight home game. Cal State Stanislaus improved to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Dan Daviess nailed a career-high four three-pointers to finish with 14 points and Prince Abidoye scored 10 points off the bench for the Warriors. Evan Scott had eight points and pulled 10 rebounds.
Cal State East Bay, now 2-9 overall and winless in seven CCAA contests, was led by Will Freedman who had 13 points while Mark Samuels chipped in 12.
Against an East Bay team that gives up a CCAA-high 78.3 points per game, the Warriors were able to put up 49 second-half points en route to the rout after a tight opening half.
After Marcus Lever's acrobatic layup at the buzzer to end the first half with a 28-24 Warrior lead, Cal State Stanislaus scored 20 unanswered points to begin the second half.  Less than seven minutes in, Stanislaus led 48-24 after a Jones jumper.
During that stretch, the Pioneers only had eight shot attempts and missed them all until Freedman's offensive rebound put-back at 13:05 ended the CSUEB draught.
The Warriors charged on, and between free throws and hitting three-pointers, they led by 27 after a Lever triple at 11:01 to play. Stanislaus' biggest margin was 31 points (73-42) with 3:52 to go on another three-pointer, this time by Abidoye.
In all, the Warriors made nine three-pointers and were 6-for-8 from behind the arch in the second half. From the floor, Stanislaus shot a blazing 65.2 percent in the second half to finish the night 25-for-47 for 53.2 percent — a season-best.
UC San Diego is the Warriors' next opponent as the Tritons visit tonight. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Arena. The Tritons (8-5, 3-4 CCAA) lost at Chico State, 68-55, Friday.
