Pitman, Turlock cross country to race today

After not having a league race since Oct. 5, the Pitman and Turlock cross country teams will get back at it today in the third and final Central California Conference Center Meet at Donnelly Park in Turlock.

The varsity girls’ race begins at 11 a.m., followed by the boys’ race.

Ronnie Barton leads the Turlock boys, who are in third place behind defending league champion Buhach Colony and Atwater. The girls are led by Joy Ndem.

The reason for the early start today is to give the runners more daylight during their race, as the days are shorter.

As always, the coaches want their runners to strive for their personal best.

“Our overall goal is for every athlete to run their best race of the season,” Turlock coach JoAnn Davison said. “Then, the cards will fall (wherever) they fall and we can walk away with our heads held high.”
