Turlock drops league-opener to Gregori

Gregori High’s Kailey Estes struck out 10 as the Jaguars defeated Turlock 6-1 in the Central California Athletic League opener for both teams Tuesday.

With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in league play. Gregori improves to 6-2, 1-0.

Turlock freshman Sophia Trujillo took the loss, giving up nine hit and six runs — three of them earned — in six innings of work.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Cadence Campbell came around to score, but Gregori scored three in the third, one in the fourth and two more in the fifth to pull away.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Turlock loaded the bases, but Estes delivered a strikeout to get out of the jam.

Up next for the Bulldogs is a CCAL road trip to Modesto where they’ll take on Downey (3-5, 0-1), while Gregori will entertain Enochs (4-3-1, 1-0).
