The boys of Turlock High’s tennis team remain undefeated in the Central California Conference after an 8-1 defeat of Pitman High on Thursday. The Bulldogs are now preparing for a Tuesday matchup with second place Merced High in a contest that will likely decide who will walk away with the CCC title in 2013.

Turlock’s path to victory over rival Pride included convincing wins from Jordan Bean, Aldair Lima, Alex Lima, Martin Castorena, and Jonathan Lopez in the singles matches as well as dominating doubles performances from the teams of Kris Melgard and Ricardo Lopes, Alan Trelles and Daniel Saldana, and Eilan Chahbaz and Nick Vardeh. Aldair Lima and all three doubles teams remain unbeaten on the season.

“Every match is big for us,” Turlock’s head coach Juan Alaniz said. “But they lost a lot of kids so we expected to win.”

Pitman’s sole victory belonged to Jeremy Moitoso in the number three singles match.

With Thursday’s victory, the Bulldogs have emerged victorious in 84 percent of this season’s sets—a confidence boosting statistic as they prepare for the always challenging Bears.

“We’re just making sure that we’re not beating ourselves,” Alaniz said. “It’s going to be interesting to see what they come out with. They’re going to be ready; this is basically the championship.”

Turlock will travel to Merced on Tuesday where the match is set to begin at 3 p.m.

“It’s going to be a good match and hopefully we come out on top,” Alaniz said.
