Swedish folk concert at Carnegie

Andström, the folk music band from Sweden, will perform a mini concert at the Carnegie Arts Center from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight, followed by some traditional dancing.

The cost is $10 general admission and students and seniors are free.

CSU Stanislaus History Professor Philip Garone will discuss the environmental history of the region in the Sunday Art Lecture “California Wetlands and Waterfowl — Two Centuries of Loss and Recovery: Tales from the Central Valley.

Garone will lead a discussion on the Valley’s formerly extensive array of wetlands and the wildlife that resided in them. The photographs of Roman Loranc will serve as a visual touchstone to Garone’s lecture.

The lecture is at 2 p.m. Sunday and is free.

The Carnegie Arts Center is located at 250 N. Broadway.

Showcase exhibit opens at Carnegie

From more than 200 entries, jurors have selected 84 works that will be on display in the annual Carnegie Art Showcase exhibition taking place this summer at the Carnegie Arts Center in Turlock. The juried exhibition is a celebration of artistic excellence. The show opened Wednesday and will be on view in the CAC’s Ferrari Gallery until Sept. 5.
