Afternoon shooting injures one in Turlock

The Turlock Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured one man Thursday afternoon.

The victim is in stable condition and the gunshot wound was not considered life-threatening, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Steve Rodrigues.

Around 4 p.m. Thursday the police department received a report of an aggravated assault in the area of High and Lane streets.

The first officers to arrive in the area found the male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The investigation led detectives to an alley near the intersection of Caster and S. Laurel streets, where they believe the shooting occurred.

“The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown at this time and there is no suspect information available,” said Rodrigues. “The firearm that was involved was not recovered at the scene and is still outstanding.”

The Turlock Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance regarding the circumstances surrounding this shooting. Anyone who has any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Paul Inderbitzen at 668-6551.
