A 23-year-old man is facing domestic abuse charges after allegedly putting a knife to the throat of woman.

The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries in the incident, the Turlock Police Department reported.

The altercation occurred around 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of N. Denair Avenue.

The victim and Christopher Karpan were involved in some kind of disturbance that turned violent when Karpan punched the victim in the face, the police department reported.

Karpan then held a knife to the victim’s throat and threatened to take her life, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Officers arrived and found Karpan at the scene and placed him into custody. He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, making criminal threats, and assault with a deadly weapon.
