Two Turlock men have been arrested for murder in the death of a 21-year-old man, whose bullet-riddled body was found slumped over the wheel of his car on Main Street early Wednesday morning.

The victim of the fatal shooting was identified by the Turlock Police Department as 21-year-old Amritpal Sandhu of Modesto.

Arrested for Sandhu’s murder Wednesday night were Pardeep Singh, 21, of Turlock, and Kultar Singh Dhatt, 22, of Turlock, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

At 1:25 a.m. the California Highway Patrol received an emergency call from Sandhu. He stated he was being shot at as he drove southbound on Highway 99, near Taylor Road.

About one minute after the call had been transferred by the CHP to Turlock police, reports of shots fired in the area of E. Canal started coming in to the Turlock dispatch, Lewis said.

The first officers at the scene found an Acura Infiniti that had run up on the curb in front of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at E. Main Street and N. Minaret Avenue.

Sandhu was found behind the driver’s wheel with three gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators did not elaborate what led them to the two suspects.

Singh was arrested on suspicion of murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and another weapon related charge stemming from an investigation by the Ceres Police Department.

Dhatt was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both men are being held at the Stanislaus County Jail without bail.

This is an ongoing investigation and police are still asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Detective Timothy Redd at 668-5550 ext. 6625.
