A 42-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for numerous charges, including strong-arm robbery when he stole a man’s cane.

The suspect, Michael Dean Marcum, 42, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, a parole violation and several misdemeanor warrants, according to the Turlock Police Department.

The robbery was reported at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday at the Planet Fitness on W. Main Street. The victim reported the suspect punched him in the face and stole his cane. 

The suspect was described as a White male adult, in his mid-30s, with facial hair. Officers in the area of Columbia Park observed a man who matched the description of the suspect. 

The man was contacted and positively identified as the suspect, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.

The cane was recovered and returned to the 53-year-old victim.
