A city worker who confronted a man about breaking bottles at Columbia Park was in turn the victim of a theft when the man stole his cell phone and wallet.

Around 1:30 p.m. Thursday a city worker at Columbia Park confronted 33-year-old Fernando Baltazar about breaking bottles in the park.

In response, Baltazar allegedly walked over to the city truck and vandalized it with an ink pen. He then proceeded to take the worker’s phone and wallet, according to the police report.

Baltazar was apprehended soon after by police officers and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for resisting arrest, vandalism, and theft.
