TURLOCK — A Turlock man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a juvenile who was reported missing last month, according to the Turlock Police Department.
Detectives arrested Richard Giraeili, 42, of Turlock, following a weeks‑long investigation that began April 13, when officers located a missing juvenile who told police he had been sexually assaulted by an adult male he met at Donnelly Park.
Police said detectives conducted extensive follow‑up interviews and evidence review in the weeks that followed. During the investigation, they learned the suspect had been staying in a neighborhood near Crowell Elementary School at the time of the alleged assault. Detectives later identified and contacted Giraeili.
After an interview with investigators, Giraeili was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on suspicion of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14.
The suspect was known to drive a black 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have had contact with Giraeili or who may have information related to the case to contact Detective Navarro at (209) 664‑7319.
The department said crimes involving children are deeply concerning to the community and encouraged parents and guardians to speak openly with their children about personal safety and reporting uncomfortable interactions with adults.
The investigation remains ongoing.
