Serial bank robber sentenced

A man convicted of robbing six banks in Turlock and Ceres was sentenced to multiple decades behind bars.

Marty Rojas, 38, of Modesto was convicted on Jan. 20 of six counts of bank robbery. On Friday he was sentenced to 23 years in prison, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.

The prosecution said Rojas robbed Bank of America twice and was responsible for robberies at County Bank, Citibank, Union Bank and Advance America, all located in Turlock and Ceres. The robberies all took place from September 2007 to December 2008.

Rojas also admitted to using a weapon during the course of one of the robberies. In addition, he admitted to having a prior conviction for residential burglary.
