The Turlock Police Department is trying to investigate a shooting in which the victim claims he just woke up in front of a house with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The lack of cooperation from the victim has left investigators with few leads to pursue.

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday a resident in the 200 block of South Avenue called the police department after hearing a gunshot in the area and then seeing a vehicle speed away. While headed to the scene officers learned from the resident that a man had been seen “jumping or limping” around in the area. However, when officers arrived they could not locate anyone with a gunshot wound.

Around 3:15 a.m. the police were contacted again by a resident in the 200 block of South Avenue. This time the resident stated there was a man outside their front door stating he had been shot.

Officers again went to the neighborhood and found the shooting victim, who had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim told police he did not remember anything about being shot and that he just “woke up” in front of the residence with the gunshot wound to his leg.
