A Delhi man wanted for questioning in the shooting death of his 67-year-old father was apprehended Thursday at a truck stop in Lodi.

An arrest warrant for 35-year-old Jason Curtis Reed was issued Tuesday morning after Merced County Sheriff’s detectives found his father, J.D. Reed, shot to death in his bed.

Reed lived at the Delhi home in the 9000 block of Sycamore Street with his father, but had been missing since the body was discovered Tuesday morning by a relative, sheriff spokesman Deputy Tom MacKenzie said.

Investigators believe J.D. Reed was shot sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Reed’s vehicle was located Tuesday in Lodi. Sheriff’s detectives had been working since that time with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Department to try to locate Reed’s whereabouts and had warned the public that he was considered armed and dangerous.

An anonymous tip led Merced detectives and the Merced Sheriff’s Tactical and Reconnaissance Team to a truck stop on Interstate 5 in Lodi, where they found Reed in the parking lot and took him into custody without incident, MacKenzie said.

It’s unknown why Reed was in Lodi.

The firearm used to shoot J.D. Reed has not been located at this time.
