Storage locker find brings out bomb squad
emergency

A Turlock resident called the police when she found a hand grenade among items bought at a storage locker auction.

The Stanislaus County Bomb Squad was called to a residence in the 800 block of Hartwick on Tuesday morning when a resident found what she suspected was a grenade in her garage. The Hartwick resident came into possession of the explosive device when she was the highest bidder for an abandoned storage locker. She was going through the belongings at her home when she discovered the grenade.

The police closed the street down and the bomb squad came out and took possession of the device.

It is not known at this time if in fact the device was a “real” grenade or a practice/dummy grenade, said Turlock Police Sgt. Russ Holeman.
