A 61-year-old man shot himself inside Emanuel Medical Center Saturday morning, prompting a brief lockdown of the hospital.
The shooting happened around 5 a.m. Saturday in a vacant room on the second floor of the hospital.
The man was not a patient, nor was he connected to any patients or staff, according to the hospital.
The shooting prompted a two hour lockdown of the hospital. Turlock police officers searched the area as a precaution. Emergency admissions and other services were not interrupted.
Hospital staff tried to save the man’s life, but were unsuccessful.
The Journal is not publicizing the man’s name.
