Suspect caught with stolen credit cards

A man stopped for a bicycle infraction was found in possession of numerous stolen credit cards after he tried fleeing a Turlock officer on foot.

Jose Cortez, 26, was stopped shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Park Street. He immediately tried to run from the officer on foot but was apprehended a short distance away.

A search of Cortez revealed he was in possession of stolen credit cards, according to the police report.

Cortez also was wanted by the Turlock Police Department on two felony warrants, including one for battery, and one misdemeanor warrant from the Ceres Police Department.

Cortez was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on charges of possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, and possession of burglary tools.
