A call reporting two people possibly breaking into vehicles in the Monte Vista Crossings shopping center led to the arrest of two people, one of whom tried to run from officers.

The Turlock Police Department received a call on the afternoon of June 29 that a man and a woman were seen checking door handles on vehicles parked outside the Home Depot store at 2800 Countryside Dr.

Cotner had outstanding arrest warrants and was taken into custody. Seeing this, Chant decided to make a run for it, according to the police report.

A short foot pursuit was undertaken through the parking lot and Chant was shortly thereafter taken into custody for an outstanding arrest warrant. She also was arrested for resisting arrest, giving a false name to a peace officer, and possession of a controlled substance.
