Cotner had outstanding arrest warrants and was taken into custody. Seeing this, Chant decided to make a run for it, according to the police report.

A short foot pursuit was undertaken through the parking lot and Chant was shortly thereafter taken into custody for an outstanding arrest warrant. She also was arrested for resisting arrest, giving a false name to a peace officer, and possession of a controlled substance.
