A parole check of a Turlock man Wednesday afternoon led to the discovery of a makeshift hashish lab and the arrest of a 17-year-old boy.

Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday Turlock Police officers conducted a parole check and probation search at the residence of 38-year-old Michael Hayes in the 1000 block of Julian Street.

At the residence officers found items and ingredients used for extracting hashish oil. The extraction was allegedly being done by a 17-year-old boy and was in a small quantity, likely for personal use, said Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

Hayes was arrested for a parole violation and the 17-year-old was arrested on a felony drug charge.
