Two Turlock men were arrested on assorted charges during a traffic stop made in Ceres on Sunday evening.

Ceres Police Officer Dirk Nieuwenhuis was patrolling at 11:58 p.m. when he saw a suspicious vehicle that seemed to be driving around listlessly with six males inside. When the vehicle made an abrupt turn onto Teek Court, the officer conducted a vehicle stop.  Driver Michael Valdepena, 21, of Turlock, was found to be on parole for a prior home invasion conviction. Another passenger, Juan Vargas, 20, of Turlock, was on probation for auto theft and was found with a fixed blade knife concealed in his pocket.

Officer Nieuwenhuis spotted evidence that someone had dumped methamphetamine and ground into the carpet fibers of the vehicle.

Valdepena was arrested and charged with a parole violation and driving without a license.

Vargas was arrested and charged with possession of a dirk and dagger and violating the terms of his probation.

A minor who was a runaway was returned to his guardian.

The three others were released.
